Below you will find a number of photographs of the Launch Control Facilities and Launch Facilities attached to the 564th SMS at Malmstrom AFB.
The Air Force first started to remove the Minuteman III missiles attached to the 564th in 2007. They completed that task in 2008. In March 2014 the Air Force had a contractor come in and pulled the Launcher Closure Door off of each of the 50 Launch Facilities. The Launcher Closure Door was buried just in front of the launch tube.
They pulled off the ventilation caps of the Launch Support Building, and placed a large concrete cap over each of the ventilation shafts and buried those shafts. The contractor followed suit by filling the Launch Tube with gravel and dirt. The site was graded, and by 2015 the contractor had poured a concrete foundation over each of the 50 Launch Facilities.
In 2015, the author returned to the deactivated sites of the 564th, and found that the contractors had also demolished the building structures of each of the Launch Control Facilities. They left the concrete foundation at each LCF, and poured a 2 feet tall concrete cap where the elevator shaft to the Launch Control Center was located.
